Green Dot Bystander Intervention Training, October 31

 <Tagline>this Friday from 1-4 pm!</Tagline>

Colleagues,

Since 2012, the Division of Student Affairs has been at the vanguard of preventing power-based personal violence in our community through the Green Dot Bystander Intervention training program. The goal is to reduce power-based personal violence by giving bystanders the skills to intervene safely and effectively to prevent sexual assault, stalking, and relationship violence. The number of reports of sexual violence happening on and near campus are high. What if we could reduce the number of incidents by 10% or 20% or more? Now is a more important time than ever to lean into prevention.

There is a Green Dot training scheduled as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and as of today there are only a few people signed up. It is Friday, October 31 from 1:00-4:00 PM in Commons 329. If you have never been to a Green Dot training or would like a refresher, maybe now is the time! Green Dot training is experiential (not boring) and will move you to action. As it says in my e-mail signature, "No one has to do everything, but everyone has to do something." I hope to see some of you on Friday!

If you attend the Green Dot training and complete a few steps afterwards, you can earn a Green Dot badge! Electronic badges are credentials that you can attach to LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook to show others your commitment to reducing power-based personal violence. And our training has snacks (on Halloween, the snacks will be treats, not tricks)! We hope you will consider registering for this Green Dot Bystander Intervention training. If you have access to distribution lists of students or student leaders, please re-post this message and help us get the word out about this important opportunity. Thank you!

Regards,

Jeff Cullen, Ph.D., Director
Student Conduct and Community Standards

(o) 410-455-2453
