Apply for University System of Maryland Student Regent Represent 170,000+ students on the system's governing board The University System of Maryland encompasses 12 institutions, including UMBC, and three regional higher education centers. It employs more than 17,000 faculty members and 19,000 staff members, and owns almost 1,000 buildings. Its annual operating budget is more than $7 billion. There are more than 170,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at its various institutions.

How would you like to represent all of those students as a member of the Board of Regents, the system's governing body?

Please take a look at this description of the Student Regent position and consider applying. Please also pass the information along to friends who may be interested. The Student Regent will serve from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2028, including as the voting Student Regent in 2027-2028. All applicants should be planning to graduate in spring 2028 or later.

The application deadline is Monday, November 3 at 5 p.m. Here is the application.

Shahin Hossain, a PhD student in Language, Literacy, and Culture, is conducting a research study on how undergraduate students use generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, and the impact on their writing. The goal is to better understand how these advanced technologies are changing writing practices and behavior.

Current UMBC undergraduate students who have used AI technologies for academic purposes in their writing are invited to complete an online survey, which should take no more than 10 minutes.

SAP Concur at UMBC - Only Three Weeks Away From Launch  


In only a few short weeks we will be live across campus on November 3rd with our new travel solution, SAP Concur!  We are pleased to announce our schedule for training during the initial launch.  To sign up for any of these training sessions visit the Travel Group on myUMBC.

Training Schedule

Concur Orientation – A high-level overview of the full travel process from start to finish including a discussion of the apps available providing access to your information anywhere you are.

Policy Training – Explains the UMBC interim travel policy and the reasons behind the policies.

Arranger Training – (Formerly "Preparers") For admins arranging travel on behalf of others, such as guests, students, faculty, or staff.

Approver Training – A step-by-step walkthrough of the approval process from the approver's perspective.

Traveler + Arranger Training – Geared toward travelers, with arrangers encouraged to stay for the final portion specific to their role.
