oSTEM, in collaboration with FreeState Justice, presents Know Your Employment Rights! This is a training that encompasses what you may encounter in the workplace as a queer person and protections-- advice on identifying yourself as LGBTQ+ at work, legal and preferred names usage, rights in the workplace, etc. This is open to all students and staff, and we encourage your non-STEM friends to attend!

Facilities Accessibility Update Today at Noon with Transit and Q&A
Learn what is new, and on the horizon with Maja Tokic
Facilities Management and the Office of Accessibility and Disability Services are hosting a review and update of construction projects that enhance accessibility, improve the physical environment of UMBC, and benefit the entire community while supporting accessibility for people with disabilities. Maja Tokic, Campus Planner, will be leading the Facilities presentation.

Learn about elevator replacement progress, accessible design within renovation, and more! Current/planned projects will be discussed and campus members (especially those with disabilities) are encouraged to share ideas, some may inform the proposal process for UMBC's participation with the AccessMD Program. The presentation goes well beyond that program - and ideas from the lived experience of people with disabilities are especially important to this event.

Concur Orientation – A high-level overview of the full travel process from start to finish including a discussion of the apps available providing access to your information anywhere you are.
Policy Training – Explains the UMBC interim travel policy and the reasons behind the policies.
Arranger Training – (Formerly "Preparers") For admins arranging travel on behalf of others, such as guests, students, faculty, or staff.
Approver Training – A step-by-step walkthrough of the approval process from the approver's perspective.

Apply for University System of Maryland Student Regent
Represent 170,000+ students on the system's governing board
The University System of Maryland encompasses 12 institutions, including UMBC, and three regional higher education centers. It employs more than 17,000 faculty members and 19,000 staff members, and owns almost 1,000 buildings. Its annual operating budget is more than $7 billion. There are more than 170,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at its various institutions.
How would you like to represent all of those students as a member of the
Board of Regents, the system's governing body?
Please take a look at this
description of the Student Regent position and consider applying. Please also pass the information along to friends who may be interested. The Student Regent will serve from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2028, including as the voting Student Regent in 2027-2028. All applicants should be planning to graduate in spring 2028 or later.
The application deadline is Monday, November 3 at 5 p.m.

Visit the gallery on the 1st floor of the Fine Arts Building today for an engaging and interactive workshop that invites participants to share personal stories connected to Pedagogy Study Hall and their own experiences with investment and divestment in the arts, both in Baltimore and beyond.
This workshop creates a space for reflection on how art, education, and community investment shape our lives, while learning from one another's lived experiences.
