The UMBC Launchpad accelerator is a 9-week cohort-based program where ventures prepare to go from pre-launch to launch, or for early-stage companies, create a pathway to accelerate growth.

Founders who are ready to fully commit to launching their venture and have validated their idea as an opportunity should apply. Participants are awarded up to $8,000 in non-dilutive funding for seed capital ($4k after 1 month and $4k at the end). Mentors will be assigned to each team.

Teams will perform deep customer discovery, develop a business model canvas, and then progress to a full commercialization plan and pitch deck. The goals of the Launchpad are to validate product-market fit and to hopefully formalize the venture and launch.

TIMELINE
Applications are due May 7th
Accepted teams will be notified by May 16th
Program runs from May 29th-July 31st
Demo day will be hosted in September

The 2025 CSEE Research Day takes place from 9:00 to 4:00 on Friday, May 2, on South Campus in the main seminar room and online. A celebration of selected research accomplishments by UMBC faculty, staff, and students in the CSEE Department for the CSEE community and the pubic. There will be a single track combining computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, AI, cybersecurity, and data science. The Ophthalmology Interest Group at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is excited to invite our members to a hands-on Ophthalmology Skills Wet Lab designed specifically for premed students! 

This will be on May 10th from 9am-2pm at UMSOM, and it will include hands-on workshops to teach surgical skills, an ophthalmology panel, and campus tours.
