Event: Future Ready Maryland AI Summit

The Maryland Center for Computing Education (MCCE) will hold a free one-day event at UMBC on Saturday, June 21, 2025, focused on AI in all levels of education. The Future Ready Maryland AI Summit is unique for all PreK-12 and higher education stakeholders, as it features student voices, opportunities, and educational resources for Maryland educators, school districts, colleges, and universities.
Federal and industry partners are invited to share educational opportunities for students, including internships, apprenticeships, and certification pathways. Potential supporters should complete this interest form, and those interested in presenting should use the Call for Proposals form.

The funding will enable construction of solar canopies over the north portion of the Stadium Lot. Rooftop solar arrays will be mounted on UMBC’s central receiving warehouse, located adjacent to the lot.
“This solar energy project is a significant step forward for UMBC to reach its sustainability goals, and will benefit our campus and local communities,” Taylor Smith, assistant director in the Office of Sustainability, says. “For the first time, the university will generate a significant amount of clean, renewable electricity right here on campus. We are lucky to have a community of partners that made this happen.”

UMBC's Launchpad Accelerator - Application Due in ONE WEEK!
The UMBC Launchpad accelerator is a 9-week cohort-based program where ventures prepare to go from pre-launch to launch, or for early-stage companies, create a pathway to accelerate growth.
Founders who are ready to fully commit to launching their venture and have validated their idea as an opportunity should apply. Participants are awarded up to $8,000 in non-dilutive funding for seed capital ($4k after 1 month and $4k at the end). Mentors will be assigned to each team.
Teams will perform deep customer discovery, develop a business model canvas, and then progress to a full commercialization plan and pitch deck. The goals of the Launchpad are to validate product-market fit and to hopefully formalize the venture and launch.
TIMELINE
Applications are due May 7th
Accepted teams will be notified by May 16th
Program runs from May 29th-July 31st
Demo day will be hosted in September
