One unfurnished bedroom is available in a 2-bedroom apartment
(starting September 1st) near Weis. The living room, kitchen, and washroom
will be shared with me.
Located within 5 minutes driving distance to UMBC, and about 8
minutes walking distance to the UMBC (Paradise) bus stop.

At UMBC's recent Fall 2025 Fall Opening Meeting, President Sheares Ashby asked the audience to consider the moment that we are in. "Some of the things we want to do which should be ordinary are now extraordinary. When did welcoming everybody become extraordinary?"
President Sheares Ashby's charge today was a reminder of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s words that are a foundation for our Shriver Center mission: "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve." Inclusive Excellence matters and is represented across our diverse programs. There's something for everybody, all Students, Staff, Faculty, and Administrators! Discover opportunities to learn, collaborate, and transform. One conference room will be dedicated to faculty resources for community engaged scholarship, with Shriver Center staff available to brainstorm.
Come any time on Thursday, September 4th, 10am-1pm. The Shriver Center is located on the 1st floor of the Public Policy Building, just past the elevators.

The Center for Social Science Scholarship (CS3) is proud to share that Dr. Eric Stokan, Director of CS3 and Associate Professor of Political Science, has been awarded the prestigious Elkins Professorship.
This honor recognizes Dr. Stokan’s innovative work at the intersection of public administration, computational methods, and applied social science. Support from the Elkins Professorship will advance the development of an open-source forthcoming book that aims to bridge cutting-edge computational tools with core questions in public management, public policy, and local governance.
Furthermore, the award will enable the creation of new training modules in computational social science and Large Language Models (LLMs), to be offered through CS3 to the UMBC community and beyond. These modules will expand opportunities for faculty, students, and community partners to gain hands-on experience with methods that are rapidly transforming research, teaching, and practice in the social sciences. Hydro will be out next Monday morning to sanitize out RO water lines. This is necessary and done annually to avoid the buildup of both biofilm and or algae in the system. The RO system will be unavailable from Monday until some time Tuesday afternoon The technicians will be visiting each of the faucets to ensure both complete coverage and removal of the chlorine used in the sanitization.
Please make a note of this and please get the word out to people in your labs.
