    <Title>FLSA Frequently Asked Questions</Title>

      <![CDATA[
          <div class="html-content"><p>The U.S. Department of Labor recently approved updates to
          the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) regulations regarding minimum salary
          requirements for exempt staff and non-teaching faculty.  The change raises the existing salary minimum
          of $23,660 to $47,476 regardless of employment percentage (fte).  Employees who do not meet specific exemptions
          and whose current salaries do not meet the required minimum will be designated
          as eligible for cash overtime.  Employers
          are required to implement the change by December 1, 2016.</p><p>With the change to the FLSA regulation, we face some
          difficult decisions for the next fiscal year. 
          As a University System, we are faced with the following options:  </p><p><span>·<span>        
          </span></span>designate employees who do not meet the new
          minimum as overtime eligible (potentially nonexempt status); or</p><p><span>·<span>        
          </span></span>increase the salaries of affected employees to

Would you like to immerse others in some aspect of game playing? Have you tried</span><span> </span>gamifying<span> </span><span>a course and want to share what didn’t work and what would work better? Is there research on gamification – or learning – or design – that you’d like others to consider? </span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span><a href="http://my.umbc.edu/groups/instructional-technology/posts/60895" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">New Designs for Learning: Games and Gamification</a> symposium</span><span> invites interested groups and individuals to propose sessions for its September 29th event at the </span><span>College Park Marriott Hotel &amp; Conference Center</span><span>. </span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Participants include</span><span> instructional designers, faculty, and academic leaders from across the University System of Maryland who are interested in exploring how games and gamification can reinvigorate courses, boost student engagement, and enhance student learning.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span>Three types of sessions are being offered:</span></div><div><ul><li>Hands-on workshops (75 minutes)</li><li>Course showcase (60 minutes)</li><li>360 Talk (6-minutes, 4-5 talks per 45-minute session)</li></ul></div><div>To learn more about each of these sessions, please download and review the document attached to this announcement.</div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span><strong>Deadlines and Notifications</strong></span></div><div><br></div><div>Proposals must be submitted by August 22, 2016. Safe neighborhood!</span></p><p><span>You will be sharing the house with 3 other people.(2 UMBC PhD students and 1 UMBC undergrad student)</span></p><p><span>The bedroom is on the second floor with shared bathroom with another female roommate </span></p><p><span>UMBC Arbutus-line shuttle bus picks and drops off students right at Giants.</span></p><p><span>Furnished room – bed, closet, chest of drawer, nightstand, study desk, ceiling fan and chair.</span></p><p><span>The room is available for immediately move in, if you like to extend the least that is also possible as well.</span></p><p><span>Conducive for college students or young professional.</span></p><p><span>No pet and No smoking</span></p><p><span>Laundry room is in the basement (washing machine and dryer)</span></p><p><span>The room is medium size easy to take clean, very close by the school, Giants and Shuttle bus stop and very convenience neighbourhood. </span></p><p><span>Rent is $430 the landlord is willing to negotiate.     <Title>Children's Theater Seeks Program Director</Title>

          <div class="html-content"><p>The Program Director oversees the programming and production for the JCC’s Children’s Theater Production Company. Currently this includes a Fall showcase for grades 1-8, a Spring Junior show for grades 1-2, and a mainstage Spring musical production for grades 3-8. The Program director is expected to direct a high quality program which meets the needs and interests of children in grades 1-8 by providing an educational, value driven, and fun environment in which the children can build community, develop their skills and experience the thrill of performance.</p></div>
