- Officiate various intramural events including: football, basketball, volleyball, and soccer
- Attend training sessions for each event - at the conclusion of training each official is expected to know all rules and policies pertaining to each event
- Aid in setting up /taking down of all equipment for events as directed
- Need to be adept in positively interacting with all intramural participants including resolving any conflicts that may arise
- No prior officiating experience necessary but experience and interest in sports is preferred
- Perform all other duties as assigned

Fight the stigma: walk against suicide
Join team UMBC as we walk to fight suicide at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's Out of the Darkness Walk in Patterson Park on November 5, 2016! Suicide can be prevented, and community support is crucial to helping those who are struggling find hope in the darkness.

New myUMBC Profile Now Live
One small step toward something much bigger
On Friday we launched the new and improved myUMBC Profile. A long time in the making, and with much work left to do, the Profile is part of our effort to streamline access to UMBC information about you.
Currently, little bits of information about you are spread throughout myUMBC and in different systems around campus. We've designed the profile to act as a summary view for information from these various systems, organized in a straightforward way, while providing a way to review this information at a glance and with easy access to change things without needing to know which systems are responsible for which info. All of this is packaged in a updated design that is designed to be just at usable on your phone as it is your desktop.
Currently, the profile contains information about names, addresses, and contact info. We are working to get information about degree progress, courses, grades, billing, financial aid, and more into this new format. Expect to see new features added over time.
From a technical perspective, this is an important launch as its the first UMBC service to be hosted using Amazon Web Services. This will allow us to easily scale the service around peak load in order to keep myUMBC fast and more reliable.

Contest Guidelines
Eligibility
The contest is open to any currently enrolled student who is completing a Summer 2016 research, internship, or co-op experience at least part-time (minimum 10 hours a week).
You must be enrolled at UMBC in Fall 2016.
Winners will be asked to verify experience if not currently enrolled in the UMBC Intern/Co-op/Research Practicum.
We recommend your Twitter account be public in order for pictures to be accessed.How to Participate:
- Follow @UMBCcareers.
- Submit your photo(s) via Twitter by August 24 at 8:00 p.m. using #UMBCintern.
- To be considered a valid entry, you must be following @UMBCcareers, include one picture in your tweet, and your placement site must be identifiable either through the tweet (mentioning the company or organization name) or the picture (such as a photo in front of a company sign).
- Only one entry (one photo) will be accepted per day per Twitter handle.
- Up to three entries per person will be accepted throughout the entire contest.
- Three winning students will be notified about their prizes via email and Twitter in late August.
Intern of the Week:
Students who enter the #UMBCintern contest are encouraged to fill out the Intern of the Week form for a chance to be featured on the Career Center's myUMBC page and Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Students who complete the Intern of the Week form must be enrolled in the Career Center's zero-credit Practicum course.Prizes and Selection of Winners:
The Career Center will randomly select three winners, who will be notified via Twitter Direct Message by August 26, 2016. UMBC Network Enhancements Completed Over the Summer
Improved coverage in several buildings around campus
Over the summer, DoIT performed network enhancements in the Physics, Chemistry and ITE buildings on campus. As a result of these upgrades, network speeds should be increased and there will be better wireless performance in these locations.
Wireless density was more than doubled in most locations, leading to improved speeds in classrooms and public spaces throughout these locations. The first floor of Math/Psyc also received wireless enhancements to improve the connectivity in the classrooms located there.
