Update

For the fifth consecutive day Black Lives Matter protests have occurred across the country, marking an increase in violence, anti-cop, and anti-white hatred. Since the shooting of five white officers occurred in Dallas many other violent attacks, struggles, robberies, and plots have occurred. Notably, throwing explosives at police in Louisiana, shooting up a police station, hundreds of arrests, calls for a black run government, and a foiled attempt to repeat the Dallas tragedy in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At some point even Miss Alabama had to involve herself in the controversy, stating: "I value human life and I want to feel sad for them but I can’t help but feeling like the shooter was a martyr".

This is a dangerous turn in popular opinion that will continue until measures are enacted that prevent the continued destruction of law and order at the hands of violent communist activists. Activists that use minorities towards an end of the destruction of the American state and the complete deconstruction of American identity. Activists that have infected the university environment, the public schools, the media, and the government -- and will not stop until there is no "safe space" left for the white Americans whose ancestors were responsible for creating and building the country.

Featured Course: The Ancient World in Modern Film

<Tagline>Explore how history and art collide in ANCS 350!</Tagline>

Modern cinema often shapes our understanding of the past – both good and bad. But just how historically accurate are our favorite films? Are modern directors more interested in wowing audiences with over-the-top theatrics and CGI effect instead of portraying a historically-accurate account of the ancient world? Are you not entertained!?

This summer, ANCS 350 – The Ancient World in Modern Film explores the way in which modern films interpret and represent ancient Greece and Rome to modern audiences. By comparing source materials (many of which were popular entertainment in their own day) with their film counterparts, students will gain a better understanding of the creative choices made by artists inspired by the past, and explore how we too might use history to inspire art.

Films covered will include Prince of Egypt, Clash of the Titans (1981), 300, Quo Vadis, Gladiator, and the Japanese film Thermae Romae.

ANCS 350 is a six-week hybrid course offered during Summer Session II.
