The Salk EDGE summer program aims to Elevate Diversity in Graduate Education. Salk EDGE is an exciting, intensive, 2-week hands-on summer program through which PhD students can train on cutting-edge research techniques. The program also supports the use of these new techniques in the graduate students’ home labs through pilot funding. We would appreciate it if you circulated and let any qualified individuals know about this opportunity.
The Salk Institute, located in San Diego, California, is one of the top five research centers in the world and has been home to six Nobel laureates. In addition to fully funded roundtrip travel and room and board during the 2 weeks at Salk, the accepted students’ PhD labs will be awarded a $1,000 pilot grant following completion of the program to implement these new technologies.
This year, students can select to obtain training in one of the following modules:
- Genome Editing in Cancer
- Computational Neuroscience
- Bioinformatics of Immune Cells
This program will be held July 14-25, 2025. Individuals who consider themselves underrepresented in STEM are strongly encouraged to apply. For more information and to apply, please click here. Applications are due by Friday, January 24, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. PST.
