Hello to all. We are processing some numbers we received from Administration, on stipends for adjunct faculty at UMBC.
The data received are from 2014-2015. Here are some representative departments, with adjunct pay averaged per credit hour:

Quick take-away: Adjunct pay varies among the different colleges, with CAHSS generally lowest. However, adjunct pay also varies within the colleges. So the difference goes beyond 'market forces' and pay higher in STEM fields.
Note that modern language classes are often four-credit courses, with one hour for labs.
