A quick FYI and reminder as the end of term approaches: the Adjunct Faculty Advisory Committee (AFAC) will soon post a call for nominations for 2018-2019.
All AFAC members are elected. Adjunct faculty elect the representatives in their own colleges (only). Members of the AFAC serve for two years. Elections are at end of term and are staggered.*
At the end of spring 2018, we will hold elections for five members--two in CAHSS, one in CNMS, one in COEIT, and one non-College-affiliated.
Your honest services are warmly welcomed.
(Note: Since adjunct faculty are not otherwise compensated for university service, there is a modest stipend for serving on the AFAC, equivalent to your department's adjunct stipend for one three-credit course (per year). Therefore the stipend varies somewhat by department.)
If you join us, you will be working for the betterment of all adjunct faculty at UMBC.
If interested, read the AFAC mission statement, other documents, and further information posted on this AFAC Groups site.
The Call for Nominations, with deadline and nomination form, will be posted on the AFAC Elections Group page under myUMBC.
