The Women's Center is excited that Women's History Month is almost here and our big kick-off event is next Tuesday, March 3rd at 5:30pm in the Skylight.
Our theme for this event is Beyond Herstory: Organizing Our Next Revolution. Inspired by the centennial anniversary of the 19th Amendment, we will honor our foremothers and look to the future of feminism!
We are fortunate to be joined by Dr. Maria Celleri, Assistant Professor in the Gender, Women's, + Sexuality Studies Department, who will begin our event with personal stories, lessons from the field, and a call to action in pushing for intersectional gender justice. In addition to Dr. Celleri's talk, there will be a chance for folks to meet one another in networking games, as well as some good, old-fashioned quiz show style competition. And yes, there will be prizes (also food!).
We hope you'll consider joining us for what will surely be a fun and engaging time with our UMBC community! Attached you will also find a copy of the flyer for this event; please share with friends, colleagues, students, mentors, and have them RSVP on myUMBC here: http://events.umbc.edu/go/79751.
If you have any questions, please let me know by emailing Amelia (meman1@umbc.edu) or calling the Women's Center at 410-455-2714.
Thank you and Happy Women's History Month!
