With support from the Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP), the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) hosts the Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Science (GEMS) program. WRAIR GEMS invites middle and high school students to work with college-age mentors in a professional laboratory environment. During 10 one-week sessions, our students participate in a hands-on learning experience and gain exposure to the diversity of STEM fields and careers.
WRAIR GEMS is seeking STEM undergraduates to participate in our 2018 summer program as “near-peer mentors.” Mentors will be placed in either the biomedical sciences program (WRAIR, Silver Spring, MD or Northwestern High School, Prince George’s County) or the engineering program (Northwestern High School, Prince George’s County). We provide competitive monthly stipends commensurate with education and experience.
