The Study Abroad Office within the Office of International Education Services is seeking a highly-motivated summer student worker to assist with a variety of special projects, support study abroad operations, and develop resources for study abroad marketing. The selected candidate will be provided training.
Duties:
· Conduct summer Study Abroad Information Sessions as needed
· Staff New Student Orientation Events and represent the Study Abroad Office
· Conduct benchmarking research on study abroad practices and summarizing findings for use in the development of new materials and practices
· Review and update study abroad marketing materials including website, online brochures, print materials, etc.
· Develop and execute a social media strategy to engage the UMBC community in study abroad opportunities and news
· Manage the Study Abroad Ambassador blog posts
· Support the Study Abroad Office with coordinating programming events
· Support the Study Abroad Office and the Office of International Education Services as needed with data management, filing, printing, posting flyers, etc
Required Skills:
· Strong presentation skills, the ability to speak clearly and convey complex information
· Ability to manage a tabling event and interact with prospective study abroad students
· Be available many afternoons, specifically between 3 and 5 pm to staff New Student Orientation events
· Able to work approximately 10-15 hours per week
· Have strong organization and research skills with an ability to synthesize complex information into a concise summary
· Be able to work independently
Desired Qualifications:
· International experience preferred (study abroad, international student, alternative spring break, Global Brigades, Engineers without Borders, living abroad)
· Experience with a variety of social media outlets such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
· Knowledge of web design or graphic design
· Interest in continuing the position through the fall
· Interest in studying abroad
