To all Chemistry Faculty, Staff, and Students:
The North Elevator in the Meyerhoff Chemistry building is currently out of service and will be non-functional for at least two weeks. The South elevator is working normally at this time. Please follow up with Facilities Management via Work Control 410-455-2550 regarding elevator issues, as we are aware that elevator outages are frustrating and inconvenient. As you may have experienced, the wait times for the working elevator are longer than usual, especially during peak student hours. For those who are able, please use the stairs if you are only going up or down a few flights.
For anyone who cannot use stairs in that manner, the following Meyerhoff Chemistry entrances and exits (see enlargeable map below) lead to exterior elevators or ramps to change levels:
Ground floor links to the UC and
First floor south doorway to the UC
Second floor doorways to several upper academic row buildings
Third floor bridge toward the Biological Sciences building and related elevators

Students who might need help navigating campus or additional accommodation, should be referred to the Office of Student Disability Services at 410-455-2459, disAbility@umbc.edu, or visit https://sds.umbc.edu/.
Similarly, faculty, staff, and event planners who are concerned about navigating the Meyerhoff building should be referred to the Office of Accessibility & Disability Services, 410-455-5745, slazar@umbc.edu or visit https://accessibility.umbc.edu/ to read more about the accommodation process. Accessibility concerns can be reported (after reporting maintenance requests to FM) here: https://accessibility.umbc.edu/report-campus-accessibility-concern/
Again, Facilities Management handles elevator repair and outages, the above connects people to alternate routes and support plans upon request. Thank you for your patience.
