I would like to remind everyone that propping building doors open in the evenings and weekend is against University Policy. Buildings are secured to enhance personal safety and to protect University property. Any circumvention of this process is a danger to everyone who works here. If you need access to the building, please see your supervisor to request access. If you notice a propped open door, or a broken or malfunctioning door, please alert UMBC police immediately and then let me know as soon as possible.
In addition to keeping the building secure during off hours, please keep in mind that there are several other ways to keep yourself safe on campus:
· Be aware of Emergency “Blue Light” phones. These phones connect directly to the Campus Police. More information can be found here.
· Utilize the Campus Escort Service by dialing 5-5555 if you would like to be escorted to your vehicle or residence hall.
· Read the attached guidelines provided by the UMBC Police.
Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.
