ISCOM Meeting Notes

1. Introductions
2. Announcement of ISCOM meeting schedule:
- 2nd Monday of each month is a regular meeting
- 4th Monday of each month is a “Speaker Series” meeting
3. Discussion of events from previous years that were enjoyed:
- Shriver Center visit from Kate Phelps (resumes, internship advice, UMBCworks)
- Discussion about academic plans and classes to take
- Mock interview meeting
4. Discussion of what membership is looking for from ISCOM:
- Study groups for certifications or skills to learn in free time
- Speakers that are entrepreneurs/successful figures (startups, etc.)
- List of companies coming to job fairs and what they are looking for in an employee
- Better understanding of how to create a network with other students and employers
- Having employers come in to talk about internships (specifically NSA process)
- Social events like “Jeopardy night” and other potential ideas
5. T-shirt design activity:
- SGA has a fund to purchase t-shirts for student organizations (about $200-$300)

6. ISCOM Updates:
- We have started a peer mentoring program. If you are interested in being a mentor or mentee, please let us at at http://tinyurl.com/iscompeermentoring.

- Next meeting will be Monday, September 23rd, 2013 (first “Speaker Series” meeting)
