In 1983, Erickson redefined active senior living with the opening of Charlestown, a continuing care retirement community in Catonsville, Maryland. Catonsville seniors were the first to benefit from Erickson’s innovative, vibrant approach to retirement living. The Charlestown campus, which was once a college campus, incorporated the beautiful architecture of the original stone buildings and expanded with maintenance-free apartment homes and modern amenities.
Charlestown currently boasts a newly renovated clubhouse, hundreds of independent living apartment homes, and a continuing care neighborhood—all supported by a staff of more than 1,100.
