At our core, we are committed to the amelioration of unequal social status and treatment in society that, in turn, affect health. More specifically, we ask questions such as – what social factors most strongly influence the link between discrimination and blood pressure? Does early life shape cardiovascular health in adulthood? Does darker skin tone constitute poorer health? Does stress impact stroke risk among Blacks and Whites?
To address these questions, we use multiple technologies – ambulatory blood pressure and heart rate variability monitoring, ecological momentary assessment, magnetic resonance imaging, and laboratory psycho-physiology measures.
All events, groups, organizations, and centers are open for full participation by all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or any other protected category under applicable federal law, state law, and the University's nondiscrimination policy.
