Dear Asian Studies students,
I hope you
all are doing well. As advising season approaches, I want to remind you
about the great resources that Asian Studies Council of Majors offers.
At ASCOM, we have many experienced majors who know the Asian Studies
program well. If you are looking at a class with a professor you don't
know ask somebody in ASCOM. If you want to know what studying two
languages at the same time is like, our members can share their
experiences with you. We are your peers and will give you candid
answers. Also, ASCOM is extremely low pressure. We hope that once you
stop by, you'll love it and want to become involved in the Asian Studies
community. However, if you want to stop by for one General Body
Meeting, grab some FREE pizza, and chat with other Asian Studies students, that is fine with us.
So come to FA 558 this Friday at free hour (noon-1).
In other ASCOM news, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting a conference entitled Perspectives on Asia on April 14.
Presenting research is a great opportunity to get feedback and develop
public presentation skills. It also looks great on a resume. Those who
are interested in listening to presentations can use this opportunity to
learn about what students are researching. If you would like to
present, we have extended our deadline! Please submit an abstract to asianstudiescouncil@gmail.com by Monday, April 2.
Hope to see you soon!
Thanks,
Julian Tash
ASCOM President
