The Honors College would like to congratulate our own Kabish Shah '14 for being awarded the
W. Patrick Wilson Scholarship from The College of Engineering and Information Technology.
Wilson
scholarships are awarded to to students based on their academic
standing, commitment to community service, and
leadership responsibilities.
Kabish
is currently working on two projects with Dr. Susan Hoban, Senior
Research Scientist and Associate Director for Academics, Joint Center
for Earth Systems Technology.
The
first project is NExT (NASA's Engineering Exploration Training), which
is funded through the NASA's BEST (Beginning, Engineering, Science and
Technology) program. The grant runs through March 1.
The
goals of NASA's BEST (and thus NExT) are to provide educators with
NASA-unique experiential learning opportunities and STEM experiences to
students.
Dr. Hoban and Kabish plan on flying to Seattle over the Thanksgiving break to share their knowledge and train others.

The
second project is called Hi Tech. They are funded by the Institute of
Museum and Library Sciences. The goal of the HiTech project is to
increase involvement in STEM activities among the under served
population in Howard County.
Kabish's primary responsibility for this project is to design
and build wind turbine with 3 levels of difficulty from scratch (no
purchased kit will be used), which will focus towards green energy. He
will write reports and provide training on how to use CAD software.
