TITLE: Research Assistant
LAB: The Social Determinants of Health Inequities Lab (SoDHI)
DEPARTMENT: University of Maryland, Baltimore County – Psychology Department
LOCATION: University of Maryland, Baltimore County – SOND 513
GENERAL SUMMARY: This position is ideal for current undergraduates. The main responsibilities include working with faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduates, and staff to conduct research (literature-based and with potential future human subjects).

The SoDHI Lab is directed by Dr. Danielle L. Beatty Moody, PhD., who is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at UMBC. The SoDHI Lab researches projects that are focused on studying how unequal social status and treatment affect one’s health. Specifically, we are researching how social treatment such as discrimination and social status factors such as race, sex, age, and socioeconomic status affects one’s cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health, sleep, and mental health. By working in the lab, you have the opportunity to contribute and help design future research projects.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ability to work within a team.
2. Performing literature searches
3. Running participants for studies
4. Draft abstracts, charts, tables, and graphs of data
5. Work on a variety of projects for Dr. Beatty Moody as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Academic major is in one of the social sciences (e.g., psychology, social work, public policy, etc.)
2. Familiarity with methods of experimentation required.
3. Excellent interpersonal, managerial, and communication skills required.
4. Ability to handle multiple projects, exceptional organizational skills, self-motivation, and attention to detail are required.
5. Ability to use software including, but not limited to MS Office, Google Suite, Dropbox, PubMed, Web of Science, and Endnote.
COMPENSATION: Academic credit based on hours work. Weekly requirement of 6-10 work hours.
